Vinitaly brings Italian excellence to Russia and China

The great success of Vinitaly at Veronafiere is leading the organizers to internationalize the event to communicate and increase the success of Made in Italy wine in the world. In fact, during November Vinitaly presents both in China, Hong Kong, and in Russia with a double stop between Moscow and St. Petersburg.

From Thursday 8 to Saturday 10 November Vinitaly was featured at the International Wine & Spirits Fair in Hong Kong. More than 100 Italian wineries have exhibited their products in the 800 square meters dedicated to the Italian Pavilion, where visitors were able to taste DOC wines such as Valpolicella and Amarone from Verona, but also Montepulciano, Etna's red wines and many others denominations from all Regions of Italy. The Asian city market is in seventh place for world spending in the wine industry, however for Italian exports, Hong Kong occupies only 25 place, showing a decrease compared to last year. There is a lot of competition with French wines, but the Veronafiere Director General Giovanni Mantovani emphasizes how an effort should be made in this direction, to increase a key market: the area of Southeast Asia.

On November 19th, the 15th edition of Vinitaly Russia was inaugurated, involving the cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg. 43 Italian wineries, thanks to the collaboration of Veronafiere with ICE-Agency and with the Italian Embassy, met Russian importers and local distributors to expand their business in the Russian market. In addition to the b2b meetings held at the Lotte hotel in Moscow, the program also included tastings and training events organized by the Vinitaly International Academy. In the last ten years, the import of wines in Russia has doubled and for the next 5 years a further growth of 4.5% is expected, making wine exports to this country an opportunity for Italian wineries.

Vinitaly not only aims to promote Italian wines in Italy, but thanks to these initiatives, it is able to spread the quality of Made in Italy even in developing wine markets such as China and Russia. These events are increasingly appreciated in the world, enhancing the export of Italy and improving the economic situation of agricultural companies that previously operated only at the provincial or regional level.

From 7 to 10 April 2019 Vinitaly will return to Veronafiere, in Verona, for the usual annual edition that will allow lovers and professionals to taste and buy wines from all Regions of Italy. In the wait we just have to uncork and enjoy a bottle of good Italian wine. Cheers!
