Vinitaly 2017, Made in Italy wine win over Usa and China

The success of the wine event par excellence is already outlined in the numbers concerning the production of wine in Italy: according to a Spa/Istat survey of 2013, in Italy there are 310,428 farms and 47,400 wine producers along 645,800 hectares of total surface.
Vinitaly this year is arrived at the 51st edition and it is characterized by a massive investment plan, a more international perspective, more business opportunities and digital innovations. The 2017 counts 4,271 exhibitors from 30 countries (compared with 4,120 from 27 countries in 2016) and the exhibition area is about 98,000 square meters. During 2016 specialist trade visitors were 131,000, of which more than 49,000 from 140 foreign countries, while international journalists were 2,110.
The top ten of countries of origin ranked the United State as first (+25% vs 2015 with a total of 6,250 participations), then, Germany (+11%) and the UK (+18%), followed by France (+29%), Canada (+30%), China (+130%), Japan (+21%), countries of Northern Europe (+ 8%), the Netherlands (+24%) and Russia (+18%).
Talking about the exhibition, the traditional areas, such as, Vinitalybio, dedicated to the organic world, ViViT, focused on handcrafted wine, and VinInternational, a space that brings together most of the Vinitaly foreign producers (30 countries), are reconfirmed. 270 companies exhibiting at Sol&Agrifood and 200 at Enolitech need to be added to the dynamic sector of wine.
In 2017 the commercial focus is firmly focused on two major markets: the Usa and China, indeed, during the 2016 edition there have been significant increases in buyers arrivals: +130% for China and +25% from the Usa.
The Usa is the world's leading wine importer and represent the most important country of destination of Italian wines. Italy has in fact evertaken 1.62 billion euro of exports in 2016, confirming its leading role overseas. In China, a country where the wine consumption is grown, Italy is still positioned behind France, Chile, Australia and Spain, but with an increasing trend. In 2016, the import from Italy was equal to almost 324,000 hectoliters, with an increase of approximately 12% in quantity.
