In the meantime, there have been many entrepreneurial excellences of Verona in viticulture and marble processing (first exporters in Italy), in food and fruit/vegetable production and in the clothing sector (always among the top ten in Italy for export). As a natural consequence, the demand for mechanical machinery has increased, creating a business that has made this area the most developed in the province and contributing 20% of the total export of Verona with 2.2 billion euros.

There are 16 companies involved in the Verona metalworking sector: painting, metal structures, cooling and heating systems, air filtration systems, screws, confectionery machinery, liquid processing and storage and even the revolutionary lifts for car.

The foreign interlocutors are eight: two German companies, one Macedonian and five Russian. They are all specialized in particular productions such as pasteurization and processing cheese, heat exchangers, steal treatment, electro-technical spare parts and braking systems.

The Verona Chamber of Commerce has managed more than 50 meetings between the companies involved that can be transformed into important collaborations to further increase the importance of exports for the Verona mechanical industries. Machinery exports to Europe are currently worth € 497 million, up 12.7% on the previous year, with Germany confirming its most important market (50% of exports). Particular attention should be paid to Russia, which is currently the sixth market for machinery companies of Verona, but which recorded a +21.8% in 2017.
