Verona goes to theater: 16,000 spectators for Fondazione Aida

Spreading art and culture throughout the territory of Verona: this represent the know-how of Fondazione Aida, an important cultural reality operating since 1983 in the theater sphere.

Two have been the most successful festival Famiglie a teatro (Family at theatre) e Teatro Scuola (School theatre) 2016/2017, both organized by the Foundation in collaboration with the Department of Education of the City of Verona at Teatro Stimate of Verona. They have recorded a total of 16,000 spectators, of all ages!

In detail, Famiglie a teatro, presenting twenty-two titles and twenty-six encore performances, was attended by 6,000 people, while 10,000 students and teachers, from more than 100 schools, participated to Teatro scuola with twenty-one plays and thirty-four performances.

The performances that have experienced the greater turnout among families were classics like Pierino e il lupo, Gian Burrasca and Hansel e Gretel, while schools have shown a strong interest in classical or auteur literature like Iliade or Il piccolo principe. The theater confirms its important social role due to the success of Un bullo per amico that has staged highly relevant topics such as bullying and diversity, or Processo alle verdure, a show designed for toddlers that invites to reflect about the importance of eating healthy. Both of them required a triple scheduling.

The proposals related to the Day of Remembrance as Anne Frank and L'amico ritrovato, involved nearly 1,100 students, while the concert-show Una storia a tempo di jazz, explaining to kids jazz music through stories that blacks slaves of America used to tell to exorcise fears and concerns, registered 320 spectators in just one morning.

The theater as a form of education and means to create awareness in the public is essential and Fondazione Aida knows it. The very next year, the Foundation will celebrate the 35th anniversary, continuining its formative and recreational activities in Verona.
