Four days of music, cultural meetings, events and, naturally, food & beer, everything inspired by the Emerald Island.
Today begins “Festa di San Patrizio”, which this year is located in the Arsenale of Verona and will end at Sunday 20th.
The festival commemorates the St. Patrick’s Day, that, in Ireland, is celebrated since 1762, right the 17th of March.
Thanks to the Ireland emigrants, St. Patrick’s Day is known in different cities of the world, with the aim to enhance the Irish culture and traditions.
In New York, for instance, where St. Patrick’s Day is now an established recurrence, there are organized parades, which take place throughout the day. The tradition tells that the “Taoiseach”, Irish Prime Minister, has to travel to Washington to deliver a Waterford crystal bowl full of “shamrocks”, clovers, to the President of the United States.
In Dublin, the symbol city of the event, festivities also become a pretext for meetings between the Irish remained at homeland and those who emigrated, reaffirming national identity, which always has distinguished them.
In the nearby of Verona, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated since 2013. Thanks to the past experiences the promoters, Associazione ArtNove, Musical Box Live, il Circolo Noi Buon Pastore, MusicaViva con l’aiuto di Davvero Comunicazione, l’Associazione Alzati e Fai Luce, l’Associazione Fotografica Shoot e Progetti Solidali Vivaci, decided to move the feast in a very special location: the Arsenale of Verona.
This year different Italian groups will exhibit playing Irish music, while last day, the event will end with a show by the Irish musicians Noreen O’Sullivan, Sean Gavin and Katherine Gavin, with the choreographies of FairyRing Company.
