This year, from 12th to 15th of September 2019, Verona is hosting the 17th edition of Tocatì - Festival Internazionale dei Giochi in Strada (the International Festival of Street Games), organized by Associazione Giochi Antichi under the patronage of the Municipality of Verona, Veneto Region and the Province of Verona. As always, there will be a wide range of activities, including traditional games and dances, expositions and meetings.
All the experiences of Tocatì 2019 will be characterised by three game values:
This year, 250,000 visitors are expected in the old town of Verona, everyone sharing a common passion for folk traditions and ancient games. Every year Tocatì invites a Country, with the purpose of creating a valuable cultural exchange. The 2019 special guest is Brittany, a region which is characterised by the presence of both the sea and the land. These two elements, indeed, deeply mark out the Breton culture, not only in games, music and folk traditions, but also in cooking. Thus, during the festival will be possible to play different Breton games (like bazh yod, galoche sur billot and lever de la perche), to listen to a Breton playlist designed exclusively for Tocatì, and to lose yourself in their folk traditions during the theme evening “Breton Night”.
