Fifteenth edition of the World Poetry Day: poetry, culture and performance at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona

This year, the Fifteenth edition of the World Poetry Day is devoted to William Shakespeare, on the occasion of the 400th death anniversary of the poet who made famous the name of Verona.
The event takes place Saturday, March 19, starting from 5 pm, in Sala Maffeiana, Teatro Filarmonico (free entry), and is organized and promoted by the “Accademia Mondiale della Poesia di Verona” (the World Academy of Poetry of Verona).
The Academy, which was born in 2001 to enhance the Unesco World Poetry Day, offers this year a program of speeches by some important personality of the Italian and international poetry and cultural world, such as Paolo Lagazzi, writer and literary critic, Roberto Mussapi, poet, Isabella Panfido, poet, journalist and translator, Davide Rondoni, poet and literary critic, Alessandro  Serpieri, translator, Paolo Valesio, poet and director of Italian Poetry Review.
During the event the two poets Majo Danilovic (Serbia) and Khalid Albudoor (United Arab Emirates), will receive the “Diploma d’Onore dell’Accademia Mondiale della Poesia”, thank’s to which they become part of the Academy.
The day ends with the preview of a show taken from “The Tempest” by William Shakespeare, with the participation of some actors of the Piccolo Teatro di Milano and the choreography of Susanna Beltrami Company.
The World Poetry Day will be realize with the cooperation of Regione del Veneto, Comune di Verona, Fondazione Cattolica Assicurazioni, Fondazione Giorgio Zanotto, Rotary International.
