Festival della Bellezza: Verona promotes art and culture once again

“Festival della Bellezza” (Festival of Beauty) was held in Verona again this year, one of the national most important events that foster art through concerts, debates and plays. It was organised by the association Idem under the artistic direction of Alcide Marchioro and promoted by Comune di Verona (the Municipality of Verona). The festival reached the 6th edition and the spectators amounted to over 50,000. This cultural experience took place in Teatro Romano and Giardino Giusti from 29th May to 16th June, and its closing show “Romeo & Juliet” of Prokofiev is scheduled on 26th August in Arena di Verona.

This year the theme was “Soul and Form”, a direct reference to György Lukács’s collection of essays, in which he describes the relationships between the human soul and the absolute. Moreover, “Festival della Bellezza” in this edition reached also Vicenza and Mantua, where the “Beauty’s Ambassador” Philippe Daverio made some speeches.

Music, literature, philosophy, painting, theatre and cinema. The festival involved very important speakers like Massimo Cacciari and Giancarlo Giannini, Alessio Boni, Paola Turci, Fabrizio Gifuni, Laura Morante, Federico Buffa, Vittorio Sgarbi, Umberto Galimberti, Massimo Recalcati, Vinicio Capossela, Giuliano Ferrara, Philippe Daverio, Patti Smith, Arturo Brachetti, Morgan, Matteo Garrone, Vinicio Capossela, Marco Ongaro, Giordano Bruno Guerri, Alessandro Piperno, Melania Mazzucco, Andrea De Carlo and Alexandra Dovgan.

Once again, Verona demonstrated that it’s willing to promote art in order to make people think about all forms of beauty.
