Cycling promotion for a more and more green Verona

Cycling is a versatile tool that is suitable for many uses: urban, suburban, sports or daily transport. Structural interventions such as bike paths, 30 zones, safe suburban locations, educational interventions, training and communication are needed in order to promote cycling.

This is the beginning of the description of the fourth edition of the improvement and upgrade course for the creation of a new professional role: the specialist promoter of cycling. The course, organized by the Department of Neuroscience, Biomedicine and Movement, will take place at the University of Verona in collaboration with FIAB (the Italian federation of bicycle friends) in April. The research programme will focus on all those strategic elements that are necessary for the promotion of the use of bicycles among citizens and tourists in the city of Verona.

Many technical aspects will be discussed during the classes, including road planning, design and safety, and also managerial and economic ones, such as governance, regional development, tourism and marketing. This approach will allow to know all the different ways of exploiting and understanding the use of bicycle, associating it to other realities such as entrepreneurship, tourism and communication, and to develop new projects linked to bike, which will be seen not only as a means of fun or entertainment but also as a business opportunity.

People who have graduated in previous edition have successed in significant professional experience that may only preannounce other achievements: the route towards a smart city passes also through a new vision of mobility!
