Agriculture in Verona: all the data in the sector with the annual Report of Veneto Agricoltura

During the meeting of Veneto Agricoltura was presented the "Report 2016 on the Economic Growth of the Veneto Food Industry". It is the annual report to provide data and information above the economic and productive results of food sector in the Veneto Region.
 
In 2016, the total value of Veneto's gross agricultural production is estimated at 5.7 billion of euros. All indicators are positive: the production (+ 2.7%), the turnover (+ 2%), the internal demand (+ 2.2%) and the foreign orders (+ 4.3%).
An increase of + 1.1% is expected for 2017. Data for the first quarter of 2017 reveal, in fact, the growth in the turnover (+ 4.7%) and the foreign orders (+ 3.4%), but there is a decline in the internal demand (- 1.1%).
 
 
The share of the manufacturing sector is stable at + 7%.
Milk and cheeses do not work well: the production is good, it marks at + 1.6% over last year, but the prices fall and the value of production marks at - 7.4%.
There is a decline in the value of breedings, mainly due to the downturn in milk quotas and the difficulties of the sector, especially the poultry industry with - 7%. The only exception is pork meat: it produces about 3.1% more than 2015, because it really likes abroad.
The good production of agricultural crops is noteworthy, despite not always favorable prices and unlucky climate, characterized by few winter rains, excessive spring rainfall and long droughts. Particularly penalized durum wheat and barley, which have yielded lower than standard. There is a change in production, for the benefit of soybeans.
The wine products is great: the total area of ​​vineyards in Veneto exceeds 87,000 hectares with the production of 10 million hectoliters of wine, of which about 70% is exported.
The fruit and vegetable sector was also positive with a production value of 622 million euro (+ 2.7%) of vegetable cultivation and about 238 million of euros (+ 1%) of fruit growing.
 
 
Increasingly, both in quantity and price, the agriculture support activities (contoterzism, green maintenance, post-harvesting) demonstrate how the multifunctionality is an increasingly widespread tool among farms.
This trend, consequently, increases another very important element, the employment rate, which marks at + 16%. This positive date reveals the mentality opening up of the agricultural entrepreneurs, which abandon the small family structure, to go more and more towards the industrial production.
In the Veneto Region, Verona is the city with the primacy in terms of active farming businesses and the number of regularly employed workers. In fact, there are 15,653 farms in Verona registered at the official Chamber of Commerce's Register of Companies with over 24,554 seasonal employees.
